all right so welcome to Stan's planning thanks for coming on um the show today uh I'd like you to just quickly introduce yourself who are you and where you've come from yeah cool thanks so much for having me thank you so my name is Judy and I'm a fashion designer from Auckland so I do evening and Bridal wears and I like to post a little the making of on Tick Tock together show everyone the process yeah and it's been pretty amazing you Tick Tock uh rise I suppose it's always been pretty crazy yeah so unexpected it's crazy when did that start when did you start the tick tock I'm gonna put it up here while we talk oh I saw I started doing lockdowns yeah
because before that I I saw Tick Tock was like a new thing and um there were so many young people going viral on it yeah just starting from nothing they were just ordinary like people um just doing dances or showing their creative creativity and I just saw them blowing up yeah and I just wanted to give it a go so during lockdown I had nothing to do yeah so yeah I posted every day yeah and so that was um 2020 lockdown yeah and when what tell me a little bit about that Journey like so you obviously started from scratch um how fast did it happen like did it happen straight away was it a few months did it take to start building the audience it
had been pretty quick yeah yeah it was I was not used to it yeah all the attention I was like what's happening but it's it's so cool and I'm so grateful for it because it has really grown my business compared to other methods I've tried yeah and it's free yeah yeah that's it and how did you like figure it out did you just do it was it just natural you were you following other people and copied Trends and stars yeah I think at the start I definitely copied other people's Trends and saw um I do like to analyze oh what videos are popular and why so I kind of try to replicate that yeah um but then soon I kind of found my own um
what works for me yeah which was pretty much like these ones yeah these are cool The Making art videos yeah yeah I guess that's a bit more unique compared to what a lot of other creators do yeah exactly you're actually creating you actually are working right like because I see a lot of the people who they're similar style tick tocks and they might be like young people you know they might be just trying to start off in the industry or trying to learn not necessarily like someone who's a full-on-fledge business right it's not you don't see that a lot so I think that's quite cool um in terms of your business itself how long's the business been running now um about five years yeah yeah
so it was like two years into the business that you started Tick Tock kind of roughly yeah and so what were you how were you selling prior to um yeah before I found Tick Tock I just did um everything I could where I found an opportunity to put my myself out there yeah so I did Facebook groups and it was a group of four dresses girls posting their board dresses to rent or sell and then I posted mine there um and that did pretty well for a bit yeah um and then I tried Project Runway yeah that was cool it was really scary but that was really cool yeah um and then I did um there's a mobile game covered fashion where you kind of
dress dolls up in like real life design clothes yes I submitted my designs there and I'm still partnering with them that's cool I don't know that part yeah that's cool and so did I is like do they give you money for putting your stuff on them or you just get to expose yourself yeah it's kind of like an equal exchange where there's no Monetary Exchange but um I just had my clothes on there and they get Styles too cool awesome that's that's cool I don't know that part um tell me a little bit about Project Runway so like one what made you decide to go into reality TV and two um what was the experience like I've always wanted to do Project Runway if I
ever came to New Zealand because I watched it as it really inspired yeah the whole process of the start of the design to them like struggling to make it yeah they're making it work yeah and so tell me like some of on that show I mean what was like what was saying that did anything change about the way you thought the industry or how you thought about Media or things like what what did you learn from that experience um I just learned that the main takeaway for me was just to believe in myself because I had so much doubt going into it if I was the only one um didn't go to Fashion school yeah um but then it turned out I didn't do so
badly yeah so just I need to trust my own gut yeah that's pretty cool and um do you did you end up keeping in contact with the other contestants and things like that or how did that work out oh yeah I think they are all so cool yeah um we did keep into contact for a bit but I think afterwards yeah yeah drift apart a little bit Yeah but no I still think of them really greatly yeah cool and then um in terms of I've got up up here I've got your other social medias I've got like the Instagram and and then obviously you've got a bit of a YouTube channel I did try YouTube for a bit yeah it's been a little while since
you posted it but it's been pretty good like do you find that a lot of these people have just come from Tick Tock has it grown the other channels or I think so yeah Tick Tock has really fun all into the other channels I've definitely found that yeah and from when you think about like Instagram because most people would think fashion Instagram like that's you know that's been the traditional sort of path for fashion as Instagram I guess Tick Tock wasn't there um from your perspective on Instagram how does that work for you like does it has it had a bigger as a bigger impact than Tick Tock when it comes to like people watching fashion like what how do you find Instagram compared to
Tick-Tock um I think both are really important and both are great cool um I think the difference is that I found Tick Tock has just a more exponential growth yeah compared to Instagram yeah but ever since they started reels I did find that my Instagram grew yeah similar right yeah okay when I posted the reels so are you doing the same sort of reels or there's exactly the same rules pretty much exactly just repurposing yeah which is good right because you make one piece of content and you're using it everywhere yeah and why why do another one exactly your Instagram reels actually do really well compared to a lot of people who are first at it right like you're getting quite a close to a
million which is really good yeah I feel because when it first started there weren't as many yeah posts on it yeah when did you start doing the Instagram reels as soon as it started yeah as soon as it started to kind of be the one of the first yeah to post on things yeah just because there's not as much competition exactly right everyone's on there watching but no one's posting um so tell me about Tick Tock a little bit more because obviously we do a little bit on Tick Tock ourselves at this business um we're nowhere near your 1.9 million followers but that's pretty crazy 1.9 million like that's all there with like what top three or four in the country I guess yeah I
never thought about it that way yeah but um it's pretty massive like anyone over a million like is is huge in in Tech talk and then in New Zealand mate how many people are over a million is any handful true yeah I never thought about it that way just because I always think like oh they're just young kids out there with like Millions themselves so I never yeah put too much weight on it yeah but do you get a lot of so you get a lot of inquiry from here um yeah I do get a lot of yeah um inquiries which is really cool because they all come from overseas it's just so exciting yeah and so tell me about the business um is it
just you and the business do you have other people who help you with things it's mainly just me at the moment doing most of it I do have um two girls having me with like the sewing um yeah otherwise yeah yeah mostly me which I'm really bad with emails so I probably should get some help with that that is funny yeah do you um in terms of the growth of the business what are your plans like what are you looking to do with it yeah I'm actually a little bit unsure at this stage um I might be kind of pausing all the custom orders just for a little bit to figure it out and maybe try YouTube again okay let's try more yeah yeah I
think you saw that yeah yeah yeah yeah kind of reignite that passion for making content yeah cool so you like so you've got a real passion for making content too it's not just something you did for advertising you actually enjoy it I think it's quite fun because um just putting the video together putting the music together it's like another creative yeah little thing yeah yeah it's really fun yeah cool and so what do you want to do more with the YouTube so you've got like you've obviously got a lot of tutorial behind the scenes stuff at the moment is that kind of the idea you want to go like teaching people what you know yeah is that the goal I think that is the goal
because um there are lots of people asking um because they're also so passionate about fashion and they don't know how to start or they just want to make a dress for themselves so I think that would be quite cool to venture into that direction yeah as well as potentially uh a passive income stream cool yeah like YouTube and putting the patterns up there for people to purchase yeah just like just to see how it goes yeah cool that's great and are you do you monetize it now have you turned on the partner program I don't know how it all works I love it that's so good just built the audience do something a little bit later yeah love it um in terms of your business
now so you're saying you maybe pause some of the custom content custom dresses and things like that um what is like from it so from a business itself and you've been going for five years now like what is sort of like the um growth of that like if you do grow it is it did you ever want to grow a big Couture range the big massive fashion house or anything like that was that ever on the cards for you to build a big fashion business or is it all just happen so fast you're not really sure where you want it to go I guess when I was younger I thought it would be so cool to have like a big fashion business and yeah everyone
you know we're my staff and normally but I think at this stage um I do enjoy just having it quite small so I can pay attention to every customer and make sure like to have a personal interaction with them where possible yeah um and then just really focusing on new designs and yeah because that's what really yeah passionate about is making new designs yeah so like a repetitive like okay cool um tell me about like the I'm gonna dig a little bit into the business side of stuff so like from a let's say from a custom piece or something like that what is um however you charge for that like what do you charge like what's the price ranges of the outfits that you create
oh true because I guess it varies so much yes um but I say generally starts from a thousand yeah and goes up to like seven thousand for a bit more complicated stuff yeah yeah yeah um it seems like I'm pretty surprised by that price range like I honestly like when I was so I'll be honestly in case told me that you were coming in I was like I don't I know the name I've heard it and I don't know really what she does so obviously researched it a little bit and dug into it and I was thinking to myself that I was like wow that's like this Brand's huge like yeah but it is like I don't know because just for me it's like oh
still it all me just working in the garage making the dress you know yeah it's so weird that other people think that way and it's I think it's really interesting for people like yourself to hear that because like you're the opposite of most creators most creators are like pushing pushing trying to grow this big thing to like sell all their crap or whatever and Grow Big Business and then you're like oh I've got this massive audience I'm just going to keep doing my in my garage making dresses and doing my little thing like it's so funny like but I think it's probably the mindset that got you to this point because you've just you've not been you're probably not been too Vain about it all
um but in terms of like when you just tell me now like one to seven K per depending on the price range I it seems just so affordable for what you do if everyone deserves to you know look nice and wear a nice dress I don't wanna I feel like to be honest lots of places really overcharge for what it is yeah and I don't want to be like that I just want to make enough to you know I just live off for myself and some are so ridiculous yeah yeah I mean yeah like someone with a brand new size like I mean they would be charging 30k certain things like who like give me an example of a brand that you look up to
like a big a bigger brand that does similar stuff to you what's in there um I guess I've always looked up to Vera Wang oh yeah oh yeah well there you go yeah right like what would one of her wedding dresses cost I would I would have no way I've never looked into it because I like it minimum six figures like minimum six figures for bearing but see this is the crazy thing is that like look at this number yeah but that's why I think you know social media numbers isn't that important because like it's online which is like really cool if you haven't been following online but if you don't have the recognition in real life like does it really but it depends well
I think where you're talking about is like in traditional fashion scenes right like in the traditional fashion industry your numbers online mean nothing because it's a the fashion industry is one of those Industries right like two you know you tell it's how you're into the system actually that's so true that's why I love social medias because I hate like kissing people's feet to try and you know do that whole yeah what's it called like climbing the ladder exactly and and you have to if you want to work the professional industry because it's one of those Industries yeah it hasn't really been disrupted properly the high-end fashion anyway like high-end fashion is I mean the sort of mid-range fashion and fast Fashions and like activewear and
all that sort of stuff it's been pretty much disrupted like companies can come in anywhere and do it but like at your level of fashion it has an a it's like this this is Boys Club who just owned that world but like it's pretty interesting to think like in Vera Wang like as big as she is like um you know even like I know that name and like you know when am I either gonna wear a fear of Rangers you know like one I can't afford it yeah maybe but even like here like 828 000 like I like that was a thing that like blew me away when I first saw your numbers I was like like I don't think and then talking to you
now makes me kind of think I don't think you realize how massive your platform is do you I I don't know it doesn't scare you to think that like you're one of the biggest fashion designers on tick tock I don't know I think with me I am quite competitive and I have to push myself so I feel like if I'm not the best I'm like I still need to work harder yeah get there so yeah you're just super humble like very humble but it's all you can tell right like like like I I couldn't even think of another fashion house that's up at that level I think that's what's special about Tick Tock is people love supporting the smaller books instead of the big Brands
because you can tell where the content is forced and yeah they're just trying to sell you something yeah versus like I feel like for mine I try to make sure I teach something or like just show behind the scenes process where they can't see it anywhere else yeah yeah it's all a bit more secretive yeah and like if you look at Vera Wang stuff like not like hers is good it's not bad um done but she has um it's a lot of lifestyle and looking cool and being awesome whereas you also say no no I'll show you how I do it which is quite cool it's a bit behind the scenes um have you ever thought about like uh like you know I thought I'd
watch this one uh today this this one and have you ever like made like because I don't know you that well so have you ever made like who's the coolest stuff you made for like coolest people have you made tough or cool people before oh are you pretty excited about it yeah I'm quite excited yeah like the one down here was for call me Chris oh yes yes yes yes another big Tick Tock yeah yeah that was really cool yeah what was that for um oh they're a photographer Alex contacted me and um they just wanted to do a cool shoot together yeah so I sent her the dress yeah I remember her content with that dress actually now that I don't even know that
was oh yeah she's so funny yeah she's really funny um so that's one of the coolest people that you've done it for yeah yeah also I haven't made any videos but I also made um some looks for periscope for her and also my friend Zannah yeah um a memory carpets look for her oh yeah when she went to like her movie premieres oh cool because she was in Mulan yeah um yeah yeah they're also so passionate about creativity yeah yeah I love it um yeah I I'm still and I think people listening to this podcast are still going to be shocked about how humble you are with your numbers I was like no because it's really true right like you might be like oh yeah
but it's just online it's just videos and it doesn't really mean a lot but like how many people go to your website from tick tock what's your website traffic uh to be honest I haven't checked yeah but I know at the when I was posting consistently it was like a thousand a day yeah that's huge is it oh is it that's huge like the biggest e-commerce Brands will get like a hundred thousand a month so you're getting a third of what they're getting who probably spend millions of dollars on getting people to their website oh I never thought of it that way I get so funny like it's so funny it's so humble away I just don't know yeah like honestly like you know I
like this is I'm like purely getting into like hardcore stand business mode right now and I'm just thinking like the reason why like you could blow it up really big you could still do your single pieces but you know you do one for the small guys that you know your followers that you love and they want they want to ball gown or whatever like like this your last one that you put up was a ball gown for someone and you can still charge that lower end but like let's say Kendall Jenner you're not charging anything less than six figures right yeah no you don't do like you like these people gonna like for them 100 grand for a dress is like yeah sure would you
do that there's that thing that you'd want or would you just be like stoked to put something on it I think I would be pretty stoked because I feel like if I charge that much there's so much higher expectation of the quality and how it looks and all that did that stress you out that was stress me out so much I just do like a normal train yeah yeah yeah I think that'll just feel a bit more comfortable can I ask you how old you are uh I'll take a guess oh I don't know I'm so durable but I want to see it somewhere like because of what you've done mid to late 20s just because of how much you've done but I feel like
you just started Young oh definitely late 20s yeah yeah that's what I thought I think just because of the amounts you've done already when you read up your story I just feel like how would you have done that unless you're mid to late 20s um and so it is one of those things like um you know we've got another late 20s person over here and a lot of our team has played low to mid yeah but it's like a confidence thing hey like you're not really sure can you push yourself can you really charge what you're worth um and like when you get the recognition back from people that you are good because you have because we've just established that like people don't follow people
with their bad they only follow people if they're cool people follow people just to follow the dramas oh yeah but you don't have drama what's your drama like this is all amazing like your stuff is awesome you've got no drama no I I reckon that you have because fashion is one of those things that like it's a really big topic lots of people love it like we all put on clothes every day right like that's the thing like we all put on clothes every day so we all have some I mean yeah some people there's some people who don't put them please okay um or don't pull up much clothes um but you know what I mean like it's something that we all have to
do it's like coffee it's white coffee's so big you know it's the same you have to do every day um and like because we we all take a like a glancing interest at it no matter what like we'll you know like everyone who's wearing something where they're not your shop at op shops or you shop at um Louis Vuitton like you all choose your style because of a reason and so fashion is one of those things where like people Everyone Loves fashion like whether or not they openly say it or not they buy things that appeal to them in their type of brand that they want to put forward so I think that's why like one of the things that you've obviously done this brand
but you've done it in a way that people can relate to it you've given a lot of help you teach a lot of stuff which is cool and I you can also tell because you're so humble about what you do that's even better because you're not like like the fashion industry the top guys are all um they appear because of The Branding people behind them that they're a little stuck up that they're a little too cool they've paid the cost of either boss right like it's like um they've gone through all the crap that the fashion industry puts them through so once they hit the top they're like I'm the man like I'm super good but you haven't had to do that like because I
guess I haven't reached there yet no I think you did it without having to do it the way they did it right you're not like you're not like Vera Wang in terms of like she's actually fully in the industry and stuff like that but you've done it your own right you've done it the Modern Way because like you think about Vera Wang she didn't have this opportunity when she was your age to do this yeah I guess that it's the modern way it is like how Ed and Survey became a celebrity right just post a tick tock yeah challenge Emilio like that family's worth tens and millions of dollars now and all they did is put tick tocks yeah like they're just crazy um but
that's the new world right even musicians like I was talking to a musician yesterday who wants some help from us to build their brand and help them take their business to Next Level and I was saying to her she didn't quite realize that she she's got like you know millions of streams on Spotify and all this other stuff it's kind of like you like just like low-key actually super successful on what she does but doesn't realize but um 80 I think it's something like 80 of um new artists last year who got into the top 10 of the Billboard charts all came from tick tock yeah music is so big on Twitter it's crazy eh yeah it's crazy but they're like mainstream music ads now
like mainstream music at us there's that guy who did that like um golden hour is that the song yeah to that song He's purely from Tick Tock is that his name Jake is it yeah I was at my niece's recital so she's nine and I was at a school recital and they did it they did a dance to that song and I was like no that sounds straight from tick tock straight to a young like a primary school recital like for the me that blew my mind like that's like the the tick tock world has 100 infiltrated mainstream daily life right like School teachers know the song I love it yeah to put it on so when you think about it like that like that
makes you this like in today's world you are mainstream fashion designer whether or not you've done all the crap that like all the ass kissing that all the other guys had to do in the past you've been able to do it your own way because you know that like so why do why do big designers go to these shows to get the buyers to buy this stuff why do they do that to make sales to make sales because why to get money yeah but why did they go to the big houses to do sales why do they do why do they have to use them uh so why do you want like Valencia to buy your buy your design why would you do that ah
to get like the name recognition to get distribution ah because balenciaga's got distribution right but it's what you're saying name recognition so Balenciaga can take your design push it to their distribution and sell it right whereas like a little known fashion designer um they aren't necessarily able to do that because they don't have distribution to push their their product but Mike you've got massive distribution like more distribution than one of the most famous dressmakers in the world yes is that ever like cross your mind or do you know that um I don't know because like I know I downplay it a lot but like you know the followers on Tick Tock they're just little kids so hopefully one day they'll convert to buyers have you
got your phone on you can you tell me can you open up your followers and can you tell us demographics you are like a like an eight-figure brand so eight figures like tens of Millions and you don't even know I guess I I just haven't been I love this this is what's the insplaining's for this is so good you're so humble I love it so good this isn't me mocking this is me I'm actually like I'm like proper fangirling yeah 100. this is so cool yeah humble as molecules to like like just sell stuff to your audience like if they like it they'll just buy it yeah instead of like pushing you don't need a push anything I don't no don't do that we don't
yeah we don't think what's your followers what's the age brackets what's the percentage um so um what's the percentage of each each age bracket oh you go to settings I love this this means you're so good yeah it's under settings Analytics I think it's created tools Analytics oh here's the page um it's 64 18 to 24 and 28 25 to 34. 28 yep okay so 25 to 34 is like great demographic for you and what you sell and 28 of 1.9 million is half a million people so what's what's the up is there much people in the above 35 like what's the other percentages oh the others like five and then two and one so eight so eight percent of people are over 35 so
people over 35 are well not wealthy but not necessarily wealthy but they have more disposable income than 25 year olds I guess if they want to dress like a hoe they can yeah is up for those they're nice I love that oh they want to dress like a holiday yeah yeah but you can't even see what you've had for breakfast there um sorry one percent of one million is ten thousand okay so eight percent of one million is eighty thousand you've pretty much got two million you're really good at maths it's a hundred and sixty thousand you got 160 000 people who are over 35. could you do 160 000 dresses not in your life you couldn't no so you have already got more people
who follow you at an age bracket that can afford wealth like like high-end stuff like you don't need to try you just need to run it like like a proverb is like you know you need to figure it out because you don't want like I don't think like one of the things that we do in our business is we don't sell knowledge we only sell execution and the reason we do that is because I actually wanted to be able to help a lot of people um who couldn't afford to pay for a big agency or pay for a marketing company to run their brands and stuff so we push out a lot of content teaching people the same stuff talking an ace band if anyone
ever asked me to come and say hello or they message me on Instagram or Facebook or LinkedIn or Tick Tock or whatever saying they like stuff I might come say hello let's see what you've got I mean that's how she got a job like she said the same thing and I was like come to the studio right and then like my whole thing is like I can do that because the people who can afford me I charge them appropriately so like a big business comes in I'm like yeah well you pay the top dollar for what you do but it allows me to do the things I want for the people who can't afford that the ones who need the help the most so it'd
be kind of like you right yeah so you could like go to the Kendall Jenners and be like yeah like it's 100 Grand be all nonchalant about it who cares put my dress on do what you're told and then you go to the girls who are like I need a ball gown you're like yeah like a thousand dollars like let's make this dress for you make you look awesome um and then that's like it's kind of like Mr Beast level stuff right like Mr beasts like super philanthropic like gives away to all those people but then he'll go to big Brands and be like give me four million dollars I'm making a video you know so you could have the same thing like it could
even be that like you have Brands pay you to make a dress for the smaller people so yeah that sounds actually really cool and I feel that's something that would be my ideal goal is to have um just to really build up the content more and have more Partnerships yeah then I can't afford to do just designs or make board dresses for girls do you get many brand deals not a lot because I am quite picky yeah but um yeah yeah um for She-Hulk oh for She-Hulk yeah yeah yeah I saw that that head hashtag that's cool yeah um and so Marvel page you I was Disney yeah yeah Disney plus Disney plus yeah Disney plus because Disney plus a base was it local Disney
plus team um it was uh from USA oh the US team cool cool perfect yeah it was cool that was cool I like that one um it was a bit rushed but I really enjoyed it and I because if I had more time I would like to spend more time on the design itself but I think I would definitely really enjoy more stuff like that um do they just pay you one off for that one piece of content yeah I'll just do one off um so what like one of the things that we've been talking a lot about like one on podcast two are my own content outside attention seek and just with people we meet is like on YouTube if you go to YouTube
and you look up like like I'm a bit of a geek so I watch like real geeky tick stuff but like these guys at Linus Tech tips if we take them as an example right so they got 15 million subscribers massive production company huge got multiple channels as well and they have Channel sponsors so they have people who sponsor the channel and then they have like um just they make either a series for them or whatever and so they've got a series that is this one here um I won't have I got it on mute here good um so this is called the Intel extreme upgrade now look this is real real geek used about like getting like Intel computer upgrades but what he does
yeah he like I mean this guy has literally got 120 staff massive he's like crushing life and when it comes to being a Creator but what he does is he goes um he's a real good example of Partnerships Channel Partnerships where he got Intel to pay them a sponsorship deal and they made 24 episodes of this particular Series where Intel give the staff at Linus Tech tips 5 000 US dollars to upgrade their home tick so they can build out whatever tick they wanted and so it's pretty cool like it's real popular like like this particular guy like he ended up having like a full gaming rig sit up he had this like um racing chair and stuff right because they're all geeky nerd dudes
but what I'm the point I'm trying to get it is that they just made the content they wanted to make but they got paid really good money to do it and line us as the owner he got to give stuff to his team that you know because he's wealthy because he owns the company but his team get paid a salary just like everyone else so they're not getting the same wealth as he is so he's made a show where he they're getting paid by the sponsor to create some cool stuff so imagine if Judy GAO was sponsored by like a shoe brand or a jewelry brand or a watch brand or like things you don't do that would be cool right and then they paid
you like a good amount of money for you to go find like people who need a beautiful dress or beautiful gown or whatever it is for like maybe maybe they've got maybe it's a Young Bride who can't afford a dress for her wedding or it's a you know like you can get really cool stories of you making dresses for people and then they paying you to be the jewelry part of it and they also give the jewelry to the girl like come on that's cool yeah that's really cool they would do that 100 what's your average view count like we can look at this right here your average view counts like three million like two million three million probably when you average it out when
you look at you got some big ones and then you've got some smaller ones um the math that these big guys uses cost per thousand views right have you heard much about that like CPM do you know um not really so I'll tell you real quickly right so the the way that they price their advertising so the way they would partner with you is that they would go um we're gonna pay you a certain amount of money per thousand views you get oh okay and so that might be twenty dollars so 20 US dollars so we charge our Channel sponsors 20 US dollars for our own attention seeker stuff so if you think about if you get a million views that's a thousand thousands okay
there's a thousand times a thousand views make sense yep so 20 times that thousand is twenty thousand dollars U.S so if you've got a million views on a on a theme for say Tiffany Tiffany and go with Tiffany and Cohen yeah we'll we'll partner with you and you get a million they pay you 20 grand for the video whoa um so it's crazy right yeah I didn't know how much yeah these cost like is that at that number is that less or more than what Disney paid more yeah that's what I thought it would be yeah um you know I know you probably can't say that online because those contracts are usually quite quiet but like I would have thought it's more and if you
go to people like liners like YouTubers that the reason why I always use YouTubers as an example is because YouTube is much more mature from a creative point of view um so their contracts are always better all the top guys know how much they're worth yeah and I feel like with YouTube Ted Talk is so new that yeah like I don't know how much these things would actually cost so I thought like oh wow this is a great deal without realizing how much I may be other creators might be paid more yeah on a similar thing it's real hard to um have you started putting your shorts on YouTube that's what you're gonna do yes you need to do that because you're starting to get
paid ad review for it really yeah you started that like yes whenever that came out oh it only just started so it's real news so they only just started paying 15 days ago so it's real news so you should literally just go put up all your content just repurpose all of it yeah um but the reason I bring it up is like like I love like hearing your story because your story is I don't wanna I wanna be like one to one of all my choices right you you want to have the time of the client making them something special and spending the time on it you also don't want to be pressured to making something for the makeup right like you know because well
you might one day but like yeah but like right now you don't want to have to um earner like get paid 100 Grand to make a dress that is going to be shown to the whole world um but you could like there is an uh I guarantee you if you spoke to jewelry companies or shoe companies um they would they would jump at it are you kidding like really okay so let's go to like Tiffany yeah I mean this this is just one that comes to mind because they're owned by lvmh so they're massive but like look at their follow account like Cancer's gonna be out there in like a couple months you know like Casa is going to be bigger on Tick Tock than
Tiffany and Co which is crazy and you're like they're not even in the same league as you it's like yes yeah their content is quite you know it's not very engaging they look like ads they're ads they're just ads they're all ads there's no entertaining I've looked at it before there's no entertaining they just use ugc content they just use um famous people who are already famous but that's good for you because it means they'll pay for you so Tiffany and code don't want to do an organic series they're not they don't know how to do it they don't want to do it actually the whole lvmh group isn't very good at this the whole Louis Vuitton group they're not very good at doing it
um you know they had real opportunity to even with this Nike launch that they did the Tiffany um X Nike launcher they're just like that's brand new that could have been viral stuff but they just didn't do it right so um if you went to these guys and got in touch with them and were like hey you know this was my Tick Tock Channel this is what I do this is my tour range I'm starting a new series where I'm making I'm making dresses for people who couldn't afford a really beautiful dress but need one they might be getting married or going on a ball or whatever it might be um I'm looking for a channel sponsor to pay for this experience say um and
then partner with us to put even if they loan jewelry you know even the local Tiffany stored loan jewelry for the evening they don't have to give it because they're starting yeah it's not exactly cheap um would you do that would you I would love to do that that would be cool right yeah I feel like that's an interesting to do like what would stop you from if I'm doing it um I guess I don't know how to approach yeah the big Brands because it's it's kind of scary yeah yeah you know how you do it eh I'm Judy girl I've got 1.9 million followers honestly it's as simple as that yeah I think that's the hardest part is trying to like sell myself because
I know that for them I guess because they're so big and they've grown like the old-fashioned way they don't see Tick Tock as like a important thing they never used to yeah they are now are they now because I know that Viral products sell out immediate they are all jumping on it real fast and you can see that you can see that um just like if we go back to Tiffany did we go back to these guys you can see it in some of their videos where like uh let's take like this video okay so this video had sorry it had 2.4 million views it's seven and a half thousand likes what does that tell you that it's paid for the views they paid for
the views right you know that straight away because what would your views be on a 2.4 million video half a million yeah yeah it would be you'd be like 20 engagement right it'd be huge so this tells you right now that to get 2.4 million views that's two and a half thousand CPM they'd probably be paid 25k to get that many views twenty five thousand dollars on an ad an ad with no engagement no engagement so no one cared for it they saw it but no one cares they haven't even got they've got comments turned off oh so you've got no engagement right imagine if they gave you 20 grand they gave you twenty thousand dollars and you did one you're gonna get all this
engagement and people are gonna be like wow that's amazing like and look oh that's so cool Tiffany paid for this young girl to have this dress yeah and I think people would love that because they they like brands that give exactly right so it's like oh it's a win-win for everyone they're already spending the money so that's that's what this is how you know okay so Tiffany's already spending stupid amounts of money paying Tick Tock ads so why don't I take that money we should talk we should talk after off camera and I'll tell you how to do this properly I just feel like you're like sitting on a gold mine yeah and look a lot of people don't and if you did then it
would be a whole different world out there one of the things I like I'm real big on trying to explain to people at the moment is that like um like because Tick Tock is like the wild west at the moment like a lot of people don't really know I'm just gonna get back to your one um a lot of people don't know what it's worth and they don't know how it converts and things like that they don't understand the whole Tick Tock and where it's going and where it's come from that like it's still a bit of like people don't know what to charge they don't know what to pay people for things um whereas like YouTube's very much established people know their value there
the small creators don't when they're coming through but the big guys anyone anyone of 1.9 million followers on YouTube which is very different I know that but if you have 1.9 million followers on YouTube you know what you're worth and because you don't take small deals because YouTube's paying you more anyway so you know what I mean so you'll just be like unless you pay me here I'll just take the ad ad review from YouTube um but with you like now on Tick Tock like people are starting to realize that actually the community on Tick Tock is really good like like your community right like you probably get lots of comments lots of people follow you lots of people talking to you about the stuff
that you do in your comments they do do read much of the comments too yeah yeah got a bit too crazy I'm such an introvert yeah like even reading comments yeah yeah that's so funny all right well look um I think that we kind of got it so I think the audience knows that humble Judy gal over here is just like like I'd love to talk to you more about this and tell you how to do it because I just feel like your brand is like is it's massive that you've literally got the biggest fashion brand in New Zealand yeah because what what makes a big brand um well how do you judge a Big Brand recognition it's about and that's based on attention how
much attention the brand gets and yours gets the most get more like if you were to post this let's say you did one a day and you were getting an average of two mil a day you're getting more attention than all the newspapers in New Zealand combined papers like I'm kidding like a billion dollar corporations and you get more people they're whole things to get people to read the newspaper and in online all in print and you get more than that that's how powerful like that's why we call the attention seeker because like attention's everything attention's worth more than anything else you know that that's why you did this anyway um so anyway thank you so much for jumping on the podcast that's all we've
already been on here for about an hour so it went pretty well I went faster it was really enjoyable yeah um but like honestly it's awesome to see uh like young people like yourself like absolutely destroying this sort of stuff um I'm real interested to see I'm going to watch your YouTube to make sure you're actually posting some stuff up there I'm really good at it yeah yeah it is it's because I see it and I'm like this is amazing and so I actually like on that on your YouTube for instance if you need help with it like we said that it's something we could help you with before coming on our podcast maybe we consider sit and the guys could help you film it
and help you cut it up and stuff that could be an option too so we would love to help you with any of it or what we can because I think it's bloody cool and I love like yeah it's crazy thanks yeah no thank you I feel like I learned so much just when I'm talking to you yeah well I hope so if you've got so much to go man like you can just see this one over here and anyone else I know who's going to watch this and just be like girl I will talk about 10 of your followers right now and I would crush life you're already crushing life you're already doing well and I love to see like your perspective of life
that's cool actually you're super humble it means you're going to go away far and you're only in your late 20s like you've literally got 70 years yeah yeah you've got time you don't have to rush this uh but it's cool awesome all right thank you so much yeah thank you thank you so much I'm still like processing and all yeah yeah smarter as well yeah oh we can have a chat I can I can give you some pointers on how to go to these Brands I feel like you know you say that I'm so successful but when I look at myself it's like it's like struggling and you by day yeah whereas like and this is the funny thing um I keep saying we're gonna
finish them and keep talking but like when I first hired Joanie so Joni had 430 000 followers at the time and I had 11 000 followers on LinkedIn eleven thousand that's it there's nothing don't well me you're 1.9 million don't patronize me yeah like no one goes in though don't patronize me I love it no but you're right like 11 000 they're living like but I knew how to monetize their 11 000. and so I was earning enough in my business to not just employ 10 other people but also Joanie who has almost half a million on tick tock and it wasn't because Joni was useless or whatever it was just that because like people don't know how to use the attention that they have
the right way like I'm not a big believer in like selling cheap crap just to make some money and doing like we don't like you know even talking to case recently about the studio she's like oh she doesn't package and stuff I was like no like we we we're premium products we stay premium if there are people that we love when we want them to come and make content let's just let them come in and make content that's fine so if the guys who can't afford US want to do so fine bring them in we'll make it we'll make content too but the people the brands who we want to work with they can pay top dollar they can pay what it's worth but people
aren't very good at that mindset playing the long game and so they don't know how to monetize Their audience properly and so they get 1.9 million dollars and they're like oh I'm still struggling to you know just I'm just I'm you're not struggling because you can you sort of told me about like you're not where people don't know really how to really maximize what they've built this is the most this is that 1.9 million followers and the hundred and what is it so forty seven thousand on here in the 27 000 on YouTube uh we're not there anymore those are your most valuable things that you have in terms of your business and your business more than your skill but it's crazy man like I
think like one of my greatest fears in life is not reaching my potential I feel like you're just instill that fear that's a good thing to like make me like okay I need to really do something about it now we should talk after the top like we can give you some pointers and how to do this and well where we can help I think you should be out to if any Brands watch this and you want to partner like get in touch cool all right all right thank you so much
